Höstfest comes from the two Norwegian words: höst (Autumn) and fest (Festival). This day was created to celebrate the completion of the fall harvest with friends gathered to socialize and count their blessings. Observed close to the first day of fall, our ScandiClub will host its own Höstfest on September 24 from 9am to noon at the Upper Arlington Thompson Park - North Shelter House located at 4250 Woodbridge Road. Come to enjoy Danish waffles, sausages, Swedish coffee and juice. Please bring Scandinavian baked treats to share (or fruits, cheese, boiled eggs, specialties of your choice, etc.).
If you need recipe ideas, check out these websites: https://www.seriouseats.com/snapshots-from-sweden-swedish-breakfast and https://true-north-kitchen.com/category/recipes/breakfast/
Scandinavian games will be available for children so bring your grandkids too. Attendance is free to members and a donation is suggested for friends and guests to help cover expenses. You can register to tell us how many of you will be coming, and if you would like to help (with set up, food, games, clean up, etc).
There will be sign up sheets at Höstfest to list your volunteer interests. The club is creating volunteer committees (see below for more information).
Our Höstfest welcomes you to learn more about our Scandinavian traditions and meet friends, both old and new. See you there!
